Library
A library is an essential part of every school’s learning environment supporting research, reading, and creativity for all students.
Student Access
- Students may visit the library independently for checkout, research, make-up work, or book selection before and after school, or with a teacher’s pass.
- Books can be renewed anytime from a Chromebook using the Library Catalog under the My Account tab with the student’s ID number and password (last four digits of their student ID).
- Teachers also schedule library time for instruction and research.
Parent Access
Chesterfield County Public Schools ensures that parents and guardians have transparency and engagement in their child’s reading and research.
- Access their child’s library account via the library catalog link on this page.
- Opt-in for email notifications when their child checks out a book (including title, checkout, and due date).
- Manage book permissions by creating a list of restricted titles their child cannot check out.
To do this, parents will:
- Log in to ParentVUE and find their Adult ID#.
- Add a “G” in front of that number to create a library catalog login ID.
- Click My Account on the left side of the library catalog page.
- Use their library card number (the ParentVUE ID with “G”) and the PIN (last four digits of their ParentVUE ID).
- Follow the steps to build a prohibited resource list if desired. This document provides details about how to build a prohibited resource list for your student.
