To enroll in kindergarten, children must be 5 years old on or before September 30 of the school year this state requirement has no exceptions.

Daylong prekindergarten programs are available for eligible 4-year-olds at select elementary schools. Additionally, a prekindergarten program for children with disabilities is available for those who are at least 2 years old by September 30.

Every year, Chesterfield County Public Schools conducts Child Find to identify children with disabilities who may need special education or Section 504 services.
If you believe your child may have a disability, please contact the Office of Special Education at 804-348-8263 or your child’s home school for assistance.
