Matoaca High School, nestled in the southern region of Chesterfield County, first welcomed students in September 1963 at 6001 Hickory Road in Ettrick, Virginia. After serving the community for nearly four decades, the original building closed its doors in 2002, marking the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter.

That same year, the current Matoaca High School campus opened at 17700 Longhouse Lane, Chesterfield, VA, offering a modern facility designed to meet the evolving needs of students and educators. The former building was later repurposed as part of Matoaca Middle School, continuing its legacy of learning.

Today, the Matoaca community reflects a unique blend of heritage and progress transforming from a small rural area near Virginia State University into a vibrant suburban environment, where education, family, and community pride remain at the heart of its growth.
